Greenwood Family History
Our Greenwood history begins with John Greenwood ( a.k.a. Pierre Lambert) who was born in Canada. He married Julia Sweeney. She was born in Canada in 1823 and died in June 1869. They had at least two children, Ira and Chester.
Chester Greenwood was born in Richford, VT on February 19, 1861 and died at home near Beloit, WI on January 22, 1931. He married Emma Elizabeth Bell on February 23, 1884 in Albion, WI. She was born February 26, 1865 to John and Nancy Bell and died on February 20, 1952. They are both buried in East Magnolia Cemetery, Magnolia, WI. They had the following children; George Alvin, Roy Marvin, Lloyd Elmer, Hubert Clyde, Gertrude Hazel, Earl Nanson, and Arthur Glen. They also had another child who died in infancy.
George Alvin was born January 21, 1886. He married Nellie Mae Paul on December 23, 1908 in Broken Bow, NE. They had one child, Alvin. He married Goldie Short in 1918. They had a child, George Eugene (Abe).
Roy Marvin Greenwood was born August 5, 1887, and died November 3, 1965. He married Elsie Louise Olivia Parfort on November 25, 1914 in Winona, MN. They had the following children: Winnifred Hazel, Marvin Roland, Raymond Roy, Ruth Marie, Harley Arthur, Tena Mae, and Leroy Darzel.
Lloyd Elmer Greenwood was born April 30, 1890 and died January 12, 1962. He married Gertrude Drummond on November 5, 1913 in LaMoille, MN. She died July 27, 1943. They had the following children; Gertrude Isabelle, Hazel Vera, Lloyd Earnest, and Chester Everett.
Hubert Clyde was born February 17, 1894, and died on March 20, 1965. He married Edith Ossowski on August 8, 1917 in Wisconsin. Their children were Kenneth Erwin, Raymond Hubert, and Beverly Margaret.
Gertrude Hazel was born July 31, 1895 in Monona, IA and died January 27, 1974 in Mercy Hospital, Janesville, WI. She married Lewis Barrenger on September 9, 1914 in LaMoille, MN. He was born September 9, 1879 in Indianford, Wi and died March 15, 1956 at home in Magnolia, WI. They are buried in East Magnolia Cemetery, Magnolia, WI. Four children were born to them after their first child was stillborn. The children were Margaret Elizabeth, Ruby Hazel, John Chester, and James Arthur.
Earl Nanson Greenwood was born October 18, 1896. He married Myrtle King on March 5, 1921 in Beloit, WI. Their children were Harold Leroy and Dolores Arline.
Arthur Glen Greenwood was born March 13, 1899 and died February 8, 1968. He married Regina Barbara Schwarz on June 14, 1930 in Waukegan, IL. They had a child, Arthur Raymond.
